Prayer Wheel Jar with Harbor Seals

Prayer wheels are revolving drums inscribed with sacred mantras, native to the Buddhist traditions of Himalayan countries like Bhutan and Tibet. This large ceramic jar (34 inches tall including the lid) is crafted to evoke a prayer wheel, and is decorated with multiple glazes and bas-relief images of harbor seals.

The vessel’s surfacing is weather-proof… I’ve kept similar vessels outdoors through the entire cycle of a Northern Idaho year, encompassing sub-zero temperatures, heavy snow and rain, and 106 degree summer conditions. This jar/prayer wheel can serve as a meditative work garden art, or a focal point indoors.
